Impatient Cow

It never ceases to amaze me how impatient of a world we live in. The hustle and bustle of daily life. Everything is TOO SLOW. The McDonald's drive thru line, the driver in front of us, the lady that put us on hold. And it makes perfect sense. Especially if you're a business owner: time is money. Every second you sit at a traffic light, is time and gas (money) wasted. Every second you waste waiting on your friend to get their hair "did," is time that you could've spent doing something "more productive." There is a fine line though. I'm sure some would disagree, but personally I think that everything in your life should be moderated. That is a great mindset to have when it comes to getting things accomplished, but the downfall is that it teaches us to treat every aspect of our life this way. That's NOT RIGHT. We can't treat God like the McDonald's line, but most of us do... When you go to McDonald's what do you want? As much (food) as you can get, as CHEAPLY and QUICKLY as possible. Don't we do the same thing to God? We want to spend as little time with him as possible to get the most we can to benefit US. We want God to honor a 15 second prayer to somehow get us the money we need for our house payment, when we frivolously went out to eat and to the movies every weekend this month. Or we pray not to get caught speeding on the way to work because we wanted to sleep 20 minutes longer. Which could be okay if that weren't the only time we've spent with him this week.. besides Sunday of course.. but it's usually not. We have all the time in the world to sleep, or spend time with friends or watch television, but the God of our universe, the SAVIOR of our SOULS, gets put on the back burner until we need something. It's upsetting to think about, but everyone does it, and it's so easy to do, so let's make it our mission for today, and EVERYDAY, to live like Prayer is air, and The Word is our lungs: You can't survive without them.

  3. Very cool post!! I couldn't agree more even though you know what I'm like on the interstate. LOl Pay close attention to something for me; if people don't give time to God or keep Him and what He would have us do as our focus, do we trust Him, believe Him or even believe IN Him? I have found that most Christians are christians (note the small c). It's a classification and not a description.
